Construction & Infrastructure

Infrastructure projects bring environmental conditions into design approvals, contracts and daily site work. We help developers and contractors coordinate those requirements from early design to handover.

Overview

Roads, bridges, utility networks and other infrastructure works often run for long periods near homes, businesses and sensitive areas. Environmental approvals are usually linked to design decisions, and the conditions attached to them have to be carried through by several contractors and subcontractors on site.

Lothan coordinates environmental impact assessment work through licensed entities, prepares construction-phase environmental documentation and keeps track of obligations across the contractor chain. Our aim is a project file that the client, the consultant and the competent authority can all read in the same way.

Sector challenges

  1. 01

    Dust, noise and site nuisance

Earthworks, traffic and equipment create dust and noise that affect neighbours and are often subject to approval conditions.

  2. 02

    Excavated material and construction waste

Large volumes of soil, rubble and mixed waste need segregation, storage and documented transfer to approved destinations.

  3. 03

    Dewatering and site runoff

Groundwater dewatering and stormwater runoff can carry sediment and contaminants and may require discharge approval.

  4. 04

    Obligations split across contractors

Environmental conditions must pass from the main contract to every subcontractor, with evidence that they are applied.

How we help

  1. 01

    Site environmental controls

We set out practical dust and noise controls, monitoring points and complaint handling steps suited to the site and its surroundings.

  2. 02

    Construction waste plan

We prepare a waste management plan with segregation areas, approved destinations and a transfer record for each load.

  3. 03

    Dewatering and runoff plan

We document dewatering and drainage arrangements, sampling needs and any discharge approvals the activity requires.

  4. 04

    Construction environmental management plan

We prepare a CEMP that assigns responsibilities to each contractor and track compliance through regular site reviews.
