Waste Management & Recycling

Waste generators, collectors and treatment or recycling facilities all carry responsibilities for what happens to waste. We help them classify, document and route waste correctly, and find practical recovery options.

Overview

Responsibility for waste does not end when it leaves the gate. Generators need to know what their waste contains, how it should be stored and who is authorized to receive it, while treatment and recycling sites must manage storage, odour, leachate, fire risk and the quality of their outputs.

Lothan supports both sides of the chain with waste inventories, management plans, record systems and permit documentation. We also look for realistic reuse and recycling routes so that disposal is kept as the last option.

Sector challenges

  1. 01

    Classifying waste correctly

Mixed and process wastes must be identified as hazardous or non-hazardous before the right storage and disposal route can be chosen.

  2. 02

    Chain of custody records

Each transfer from generator to carrier to receiving facility needs records that can be traced and checked.

  3. 03

    Operating conditions at waste facilities

Treatment and recycling sites must control storage, odour, leachate, dust and fire risk under their approval conditions.

  4. 04

    Finding viable recovery outlets

Recycling depends on clean segregation, reliable volumes and receivers able to accept the material.

How we help

  1. 01

    Waste inventory and classification

We list waste streams by source, characterize them with laboratory support where needed and assign a handling route to each.

  2. 02

    Transfer and disposal records

We set up a record system that links every load to its carrier, destination and supporting documents.

  3. 03

    Facility compliance support

We review site operations against approval conditions and prepare the documentation needed for permits and inspections.

  4. 04

    Segregation and recovery planning

We design segregation at source and identify reuse and recycling outlets that match the volumes and quality available.
