Environmental Compliance Advisory

We assess where a facility stands against its environmental obligations and help management close the gaps in a planned and documented way.

Overview

A facility's environmental obligations come from several sources: legislation, the conditions of its environmental approvals, decisions of the competent authority and, in some cases, requirements set by clients or lenders. This information is often held in different places, which makes it difficult to know whether every obligation is being met.

Lothan International delivers compliance advisory directly. We build a register of the obligations that apply to the facility, assess current practice against each one through document review and site visits, and rate the gaps by significance. The result is a corrective action plan with clear owners and priorities, which we can follow up with the client until each action is closed.

We also prepare facilities for inspections and regulatory visits by reviewing records, briefing site staff and checking that the evidence an inspector is likely to request is available and current.

Regulatory context

In Kuwait, the Environment Public Authority (EPA) is the competent authority for environmental matters, and the Environment Protection Law No. 42 of 2014, as amended by Law No. 99 of 2015, sets the general legal framework.

A facility's compliance obligations typically combine requirements in the law and the regulations and decisions issued under it with the specific conditions of the facility's own environmental approvals.

Applicable requirements depend on the activity and must be confirmed with the competent authority.
